Try to do this:
1. select the pad where is the sampled poem
2 press the time/bpm button
3 turn the knob control 1 and see if its in "PTN" position, if so, turn all the way down until de display shows "OFF"
I think it must solve your problem, but it can be a polyphony issue too.

anyway i feel more comfortable using chromatic ps (both in the sp 303/404) than the pitch shifter fx... i think it rescpect more the nature of the pitch...

I use the cromatic ps to build chords and the pitch shifter to make basslines or lead lines.
With resample you can build complex ...

@juxt: When I saw this topic I remembered that I had seen a video with a similar trick. Now I know it was your video, I must have seen all the SP videos on youtube.

Hey Fauna! When I say it's hard it doesn't mean it's not good. I think it's better when it's hard so people have to be more creative.

I think I will not be able to participate on this battle. I 'm 3000 km away from home. I brought the SP with me but didn't have time to work with it.
I'm looking foward to hear your beats. It's a good sample but a little hard, I made a drumkit from it but did not match the rest of my beat.

I think what you mean is this:
1. enter pattern mode
2. press rec and select a pad where you want to record the pattern
3. press rec again to start and put the sample on the first beat of each bar (the bpm of the sample must match the bpm of the pattern)
4. play the drum sounds to record them

Am I allowed to put the sample in Logic and just take the sections I want? That's nothing I can't do on the SP but it's just a lot faster...

as far as I known you can't do it, you have to chop only using the sp.

I have only one card, a sandisk 1gb, but I think I should have at least one more.

Maybe we can let the pool open for more one day or the winners can talk with each other and choose the sample together.
But if happen to have two sample tracks I think it could be allowed to mix them.
