SP-303/404 Artists

I know Madlib, Dibia$e make great music on the 303 and 404. Does anyone know more reknown artists who solely work with these SP's?

fly lo showed me how to use the 303. so that started that craze

also dak is filthy on the 404 and 202

any llama selfish, fluent, vincent price use the 404, 303 and another one i forgot which model.

jon wayne is raw on the 404

alot of brainfeeder ras g , sam , teebs, matthew david use the 404 and 303

the homie durlin lurt use the 303 alot very dirty beats.

i though afta use reason to make the beats ,but for shows dumps beats in the 555

shafiq need to start rockin the sp at his shows if he owns one. the cdj thing kinda kills the show. crazy beats without a doubt tho.

The thing is I wonder how much do these artists solely create the beat on an SP. Im pretty new with the 303 coming from a DAW it seems more time consuming then I expected (I know wax on wax off, I need more patience).

I assume the 404sx is more user friendly and you can actually make beats and maintain a decent workflow. I get the idea it's easier to just record some samples and loops on the SP to get the 'sound' and then export it all to a sequencer (hardware/software) to actually build up the track.

303 is good for buildin beats i never use the sequencer. i normally just use the resample function to build the beat. plus on the 303 u can resample while playin ur sample through the ext source. i wish the 404 did that.

^ wow I didn't know you could resample while playing the sample, I've been wishing my 404 could do that ever since I started fuckin with it haha.

also pretty much any sp artist I knew has already been mentioned, and I got lots of new ones for myself now too haha. there's a lot of dope cats on the sp's.

303 is good for buildin beats i never use the sequencer. i normally just use the resample function to build the beat. plus on the 303 u can resample while playin ur sample through the ext source. i wish the 404 did that.

So basically you dont use the 'pattern mode' on the 303 when you build beats? I don't really have clear though what you mean by resampling while playing a sample through ext. source?

I wanted to ask if you give me an a,b,c example but maybe that's too much (I should go figure it out myself hehe).

Animal used pretty much every SP except the 505 and 606. Panda had a 202 for a long time while geologist used the 808. Then Panda moved to the 303. After that they both moved to 404 (og?) and know I think they all have 555.

Four tet used 303 alot also, i saw a gig of him with 3 303é

but when u resample on the 303 or 404 resample and rec button . normally u suspose just resample a sound if u want to put an efx on a sound then put on a new button. but buildin beats with the resample techique is fun u gotta play ur sample chops for like 2 min. or however long u want. then add drums on top of sample chops for 2 min. or longer as well. repeat this process with whatever sounds u want to add. it takes a minute to learn this process but youll get used to it. its alot of trial error search youtube tutorial on there left and right. you have the power of the internet with all the answers there. so thats half the battle, but this should be a start for you.
