Does saving backup data not save the actual samples?

Hey, i had been saving backup data for a few years now and just building them up and plannign to go back to them and rework unfinished stuff. now im loading up backup data and none of the original samples are there.

is this how it normall works??

Are you using the OG 404? If you are, it only saves the internal banks (A and B).
