404 buggin out?

Hey guys,
I'm a little confused. I turn on the 404 and its just acting wierd...lets me press the record button but then wont let me choose a pad, same thing with delete, I press the delete button then it wont allow me to delete any pads... I'm not totally familiar with the 404 but is there a way to initialize the memory like you would on a 303... or what might be the problem?

Thanks a lot, hoping this is something simple...

btw I'm not using a compact flash or anything on it, just internal memory

Thanks a bunch man, I'm an idiot...
Right after i post the topic i start reading the manual about the initializing the memory and had a feeling it could be the protect thing.
