External effect is gone after hitting pads

Hey, I'm want to play live with the 404 sx. I mainly use it as an effects processor using the ext source in .

Problem is, when I trigger a sample from a pad (only 1or 2 times in my set) it seems like the effect is killed on the external input. Any ideas?
