why does this sound play once in a while ?

every once in a while i hear this weird paper crumpling sound come from no where, i was able to capture it and save it, I am using windows xp, i have searched thru all the system sounds to see what it could be to no avail, anyone here this before, i have been hearign it for years. it sounds like walking thru crunchy snow, paper crumpling or a lofi door closing or something, there is always 2 , the first one is a bit louder and the distance between them is always the same, : edit : when i was posting this it happenedd 3 times now it completly stopped .

Have no idea. There is a sound called "Start Navigation" that puts out quiet subtle sounds when you click on stuff (it is easy to miss if you quickly skim through all the sounds). It also sounds like the sound that occurs when the browser is trying to load up and it keeps restarting. Did you try changing your computer's sounds?

it happens when im not doing anything, or clicking anything . i went thru the system sounds again, the start click is way different. and i don't. use internet explorer .

Try changing your system's sounds and see if it makes a different sound under the same circumstances or if it makes the same sound. If it makes the same sound then I have no clue.

is that like the sound made when dropping something in the recycling bin or emptying the bin?

maybe there is some background process cleaning up temp files or some shit.. or maybe just some dodgy spyware/etc doing something it shouldnt
