I use them both. Together sometimes. When using both I usually use the 404 as an effects box for the microkorg (the octave fx is excellent for woofer-killing bass).
I like that both are portable so I could use both with an ipod/cd player/whatever to rip samples off of and make a full track.
all you need is a metronome(if you don't have one you can find them all over the net) to keep you timing right.
Put the Sp-404 on autorecording (press cancel+rec and turn knob 3 a little to the right) play you riff on the microkorg in time of your metronome and press the rec button again in time of the metronome and you got a nice riff!
i actually use the microkorg all the time (trough midi)to trigger samples in the 404 since the micro got velocity sensitive keys (although really bad ones) but its nice for that extra variation in volume.
so the sp-404 do have velocity sens it just hasn't velocity sensitive keys right? so a microkorg a padkontrol or whatever would make the sp-404 velocity.
