DR 202 step sequencer

Post by Nicknw »

The instructions in the manual on using the step sequencer are really shit, so I was wondering if there was any 202 users on here who could help me out.

cheers

hi ellaguru, what do you use this for? i was looking at some dope youtube vid, a guy did some amazing dope beats on only this machine (can't find it again, dumb youtube search engine won't bring it up).

is the sequencer a bit easy to work with?

oh wait, found it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CWs9venb_oU

well the sequencer is not very difficult if you have experiences with samplers/drum machines yet. plus you have a track dedicate for the external midi machines, not bad at all...

ok sorry, to be more specific, in how much detail can you place notes in step edit and in the live recording mode? can you shift notes around or only drop them in like you do on the sp? and can you step through a sequence, or is it like the SP, just wait till it loops round? can you edit velocity on notes?

i'm new, basically never used a separate sequencer, and i'm looking for a small cheap something that can do the trick and this seemed like it, and have some dope bass sounds in there too... i would also want to use it to sequence my microkorg with if that's possible.

maybe this is too limited, but what i've seen here and there made me want to get one.

you have swing and you can shuffle notes in the step sequencer very accurately, in real time sequencer it's just up to your skills (and the quantize). plus, this machine got a special feature called "groove quantize" wich had new flavours to the beats.
you can edit velocity on notes as far i remeber.
your mikrocorg will be well sequenced with the EXT part (the midi external thing) i told you before: this is a track dedicated to external midi machines.
