I'm a huge Pete Rock fan, but he's coming off mad ignorant. On the other hand I guess if I was Pete Rock I probably would too. Peace to Dibiase, he handles himself well and anyone who doesn't know the name doesnt deserve to.

yeah i think there was a big mis understanding and the cats that were coming off disrepectful egged it on... i mean its PETE ROCK! he aint a millionaire but he may have a million records and leaking info wouldnt allow him to gain a million more...

Dibiase did handle that ish well... cuz i think dude jus misunderstood... flat out... and tbh pete was right in a "mentor" manner... i mean... im sure he would trade techniques with you if u put in work and he recognized that much about u... and some ppl need to hear that ish from someone like him because it's like a push on the shoulder...

some dude on there said some b.s about samurai's or something not sweating the small stuff... WTF in the beginning of enter the dragon Bruce lee talks about the small things equating to the most beautiful thing that u could miss...

idk... them dudes were asking for it cuz no one hands out shit for free... ive never lurked on the net looking for who sampled this or that cuz it felt better when i stumbled across what they did sample...

sorrry re read my post and 4got somethings cuz i was partially drunk

but i meant PR was right in telling them other dudes to work hard for what they aspire to be.. instead of walking b4 crawling.... dudes should find away to dig w/o clicking a search engine...

i know that works for some.... but to ask a legendary digger about E-diggin is a slap in the face or about his technique...

I'm pretty sure Pete Rock didn't quite understand where Dibia$e was coming from. Probably thought he was dissing or something.

But from what I understand from the discussion (I don't like Twitter so much when it comes to discussions, tend to be very difficult to follow), I very much agree with Dibia$e's points made.

It's a new day and age, youtube and such have become mighty important for exposure. People sample from online audio sources, spend more money on sample libraries (I'd assume) and do loads more with software than in the old days. How can one argue that producers of today, especially the better ones, are 'lazy'?

I definitely think a lot of cats ask about sample sources out of pure and honest curiosity, without having the intention of 'stealing' someone else's idea or something.
"out of respect U DONT ASK A PROFFESIONAL WHAT HE SAMPLES!!"
Ironically I think there is some truth in that, as the creation made out of the samples is what should have the main attention. To some extent it's as odd as asking a painter which crayons or brushes he's used, but at the same time many probably won't really mind telling you.

Interesting post here, but....FUCK Twitter. More opportunity for mindless gossip and the chance to be a "follower". Dibiase works very hard and Pete Rock is a legend to us all. nuff said, now respect your elders people.

haha this made it to the forum. first off i was tellin the young homie u dont ask the architects what they sample especially on twitter. plus i was like tellin the homie u got resources around u anyways. so i agreed with pete but he could been more gracious cause cats is young nowadays they could be askin soulja boy for guidance.lol i see alot of young cats on the forum makin crazy music , and for him to say all young cats is lazy i didnt agree with that. i guess he thought i was cocky even tho i respectful the whole time. just was informin him on theres more to l.a. than warren g , dj quik ,dr. dre and mad lib.lol that would be funny if pete was the featured producer for the red bull finals. its all good gonna still put out music regardless

kinda like the old man that talks shit about the younger generation. if you respect your elders you sort of let it slide tho you know he is making a generalization and creating a stereotype. but its fuckin pete rock man, come on. imagine the number of times he hears that question. prolly more than beats he made in his life. maybe being a legend he may wanna compose himself a little better but fuck that. let the man speak his mind and that seems to be what it is. seems like th emore years past the more people dont want others to be themselves or speak their piece. better to keep it in, dont hurt others feelings. or dont be yourself if yourself would have said "yaw lazy". come on. freedom of speech still exist in some forms. how you feel about it is personal, how he said it was real!
and im an advocate of "sample exploration". posted the whosampled.com shit. not to steal a sample like some might. i just like knowing. I listen to producers to hear what they are doing and how they rock, with the interweb, now i can see what they dug up and how they flipped it. just another form of learning, call it what you want.

agreed he couldve came better even damu the fudgemunk caught flack for telling some cats to doth the homework themselves when he put out that madvillan remix joint... like dudes was really mad @ em... he aint diss em like pete did but he mentioned how hard he works @ this and this ish he finds is just from diggin...

i think this ish is just sensitive to ppl on both sides... especially since not every city has a place where a pete rock or madlib or dibaise(sp) or anybody else dwells that you u could sit there and actually talk about music vs one shot q's that come off ignorant and rude

i physically dig tho bitches, lol naw ive tried the online thing when i first first startedbut not songs really... mostly pad sounds and basses
