I got my MPC like a year ago I learned it but never really liked it for some reason. I still do all my beats/tracks on the 303. I think the mpc is over rated. Don't get me wrong tho it's a great machine I just think it takes way too much time to record in all your samples and chop/trim them up. I guess I haven't really mastered it yet so I can't judge. But I just spent like 2 1/2 hours working on a track and I just ended up with a bunch of samples and wack sequences.
I guess if your just going for the loop type beats its easy but I like to put in a lot of sounds in my beats so I have to re-sample in my 303 and record it to the MPC since my mpc doesnt have effects. aaaaw man it just takes way too much time. basically i have to make sure the track sounds like I want the final mix to sound cause i dont have the 8 outs either so its a pain in the ass. specially if i want effects on my samples.
I have a question tho if anybody can answer it. Once you chop up a loop lets say the loop is 25 BPM id think you would set you tempo to 100 bpms. But my question is, once you set it to 16 pads how can you find the Tempo/bmp for those chops ? I have done it before just that when i tried to figure out the bpm today it sounded weird.. my loop was set to 28 so I multiplied that by 4 and I figured the bpm was 112 when I recorded the chops it sounded way too choppy and not in a smooth sequence.
any body got tips for finding the bpm on your chops ???

im not to sure what you mean, but if you got your sample looped perfect tap tempo to find the tempo (i normaly do this in the sp) then either timestretch if you need to match the beat bpm then jus chop and it should fit with no worries.
with the 16 pads though, it can sometimes through your ish off if your quatizing, but i never do so....
you could allways auto chromatic assign the samples into new programs as it gives you more room, don't know if you can do this one th 2k.
