applying effects to only certain tracks?

is there a way to do this, i select the effect button above the track i want the effect on, but it makes all the tracks effects light go on and applys the effect to every track, any way i can just apply the effect to one track? thanks

Press [SHIFT] and [FX EDIT], go right to loc. Patchloc or "Patch Location" scroll with wheel to select track pre or post fader, record, master, aux in -out or mic. The same applies to Virtual analog synth.

THANK YOU, so much, so hard to figure out ho w this machine works with no manual, for the sake of not starting a new thread , think you can tell me how to apply quantize to a track so that my drum samples will have a timing correction applied to them?

I don't know anything about the 808 unfortunately, but you mentioned you didn't have the manual. If you need it to read, they'll have it on the Roland site for download if that helps..
