weird/random resample query

ok so when im in the groove and im getting samples from different ext sources (with that button and mic ON) and then i go to resample something just the mic button stays on, now im not trying to get any sound from the ext source at this point and i dont really hear anything extra coming in when i do the resample but im just wondering whats that all about and can/is it also recording like the sound of my room or the other machines noise when im resampling? sometimes i notice its on and shut it off for good measure, but just wondering if it even matters or whats the deal? anyone know?

pretty sure 'resample' on the sp-404sx automatically cuts external inputs and just records inside the machine.
