resampling weirdness on sp404sx

ok, i put this in another thread, but i thought it makes more sense to give it a separate one... just wondering if anyone on here has seen this happen.

it appears like my sx has an issue with resampling, i'm not sure if it's a card thing or something else. Basically what happens is, when resampling, right after recording finishes, and i try to play back the recording, nothing appears to be on the pad, and it doesn't light up. yet when i shut the unit off and turn it back on again, the resampled part is there (most of the time at least, yesterday i had one - the last empty pad- that wouldn't record anything at all).
As far as i've noticed it doesn't happen during regular recording.
It might be to do with having a card that's nearly full, i'm going to try and empty the card and see if that affects anything, because i don't think this happened during the first bunch of days of using it, while the card was still mostly empty.

If this hasn't happened to anyone, i think i'll take it back to the shop to see what they think. It gets kind of annoying having to shut down after every resample.

definitely not normal!
I guess its possible if your card is riiight full.. like it only has a couple seconds sampling time left, but that seems unlikely.

nope i have 30 minutes of time left, but nearly all pads are full though... im gonna backup this card on my comp and try with it empty, blow any dust off of it if there is any, and if it still does it i will check with the store.

hah, after deleting all samples, i've just been resampling without any problem all the way from bank j to bank a (while making a lot of noise in the process )
probably should have tried that first, but it's interesting to know if this happens on other people's machines.
funny thing is, the first recording - not resampling - did the same thing, i had to turn it off before the sample was there. it's still electronics with a will of its own huh?

it happens to me sometimes, if im going fast(i own an sx). the sample is always there, I just have to give it a second or two.

yes i've seen that too, but when i had to turn it off, it wasn't just 2 seconds, it really didn't do anything until i turned it off. keeping fingers crossed that it doesn't come back.

okay, got another question about resampling - is it true that it is not possible to resample with a prespecified BPM?
I can't find it in the manual, and when i press resample and rec, and try to adjust the BPM at any point, it does not respond. Is it only possible during original sampling?
So far I haven't really bothered with the BPMs except in pattern mode (obviously), but i thought I'd try to take that stuff into account for the samples, considering the fx use that info too. I'm not much the mathematical type though.
This is part of my general wondering, what do you use the sample bpm for? do you set your sample bpms to 'pattern' when making a beat?
I feel I'm not using this to it's full potential.

i think your best bet is to totally neglect the BPM read out and use your ears, but to answer your questions, there is no resample BPM you can set, and i think many people use the BPM knob on a sample to time stretch something, i definitely do, even chops, but i timestetch by ear, so i play it live with some drums pattern playing at the BPM of the beat i'm lookin for and just adjust em til it sounds right

yeah that's how i've been using it so far, disregarding the actual number the 404 estimates the sample at, and just stretching by how it sounds.
when i was playing with the factory presets (the nasty techno stuff), i was amazed at how easy it was to make something sound good or in sync... but then that stuff is all plain 4/4 with no swing or looseness, and that's not what i'm after anyway... just thought it might be of use
