when i'm programming patterns, and i set the length to say, 4, the length will sometimes in reality be 8. it will count all 4, then start all 4 over again while keeping anything i did in the first 4 and then anything i do on the second 4. totaling 8. i have noticed that this may have something to do with the samples i'm playing being on loop setting. maybe it also has to do with the duration of the samples i'm putting into the pattern. maybe lonestar can set me straight about this, maybe every single one of you can! help!
also about quantize, i'm super new to playing small computers basically, i'll just keep it simple. if i quantize at 4 and program a pattern, when i press a sample on a 4/4 down-stroke, it should perfectly align itself into that down-stroke, even at the beginning of a pattern? and for an upstroke, it would be 8 i'm assuming? and halfway between the down-stroke and upstroke would be i'm guessing a 16th?
i'm stoked on this site and thanks to all you guys for your help.
questions about patterns and quantize function.

i'm pretty sure it has something to do with the pad settings, but i'd love to know what the deal is and why, so maybe i would have a better understanding of the machine, therefore utilize it's features.
