probably stupid pattern question

Post by dudio »

Hey people,

this is my first post here so I hope you can all bear with me.
I've had this 404 for a couple months now and I've been mostly winging it with loops and playing directly into a shitty tape deck. Between those times though, I've been trying to figure out pattern mode. Right now, I'm completely stuck with this problem and I haven't found anything in the manual that talks about it-though I might not be reading hard enough or something. So what happens is, I set up the pattern, set up the bpm and the quantize, and when it gets to length, I set it to say, 1. So, I'm all set up, I play the loop, I finish, I play back the pattern that I just made and for some reason, it plays back the bar that I made a pattern out of and then it plays another bar of blank space and then it goes back to the bar I intended to make and back to silence, and on and on in that way. What's the deal with this bar of silence?

damn, they should add this to the front page of the manual or something, so normally your playing a pad with loop on, you hit it, it turns on, press it again, it turns off, so when you sequence something up, it triggers that pad at a certain time every round through the pattern, so it plays one bar, then it gets triggered again, which turns it off.......so if you just turn off loop for anything your sequencing, all your problems will be solved (unless of course you want to turn something on to loop, then turn it off)
