So I just got a 303...

I dunno how you guys do it... The 303 is a serious ninja-esque machine! Ive been making lil beats on it recently but nothing worth showcasing.. The sound on it (compression/vinyl sim) is very nice to my ears tho... I just wish u could play with mute groups as I'm not used to playing in gate.... My main machine is the 606... Anyways this post is just to show some love to the 303 heads in here... Hopefully I'll have some 303 beats up soon

this machine got a real warm/noisy sound.
the Filters are good.
Delay i don't feel it. i mean, is not like 303 delay,you cannot "dub" with it. example: if youstop the sample the delay follows and it stops with it...so not really useful...
Ring mod is ok.
Pitch: very nice, but if you affect one sample you will affect all the samples...
Time: the time stretch is ok, but is considered as 1 effect, so , for ex.:if you have 3 samples and 2 of them has Time applied you cannot play the 2 together...
Lo-fi is very good (not an effect).
is it a very limited machine compared to the other sp (but also to the yamaha su10!), you cannot resample with it; ok, is it from the 1997 (but the su10 is from the same year...)
i have both because they're make a great Battery combo together or i can use it as sound module via midi or to obtain lofi sounds sometimes better than sp-303...
my 202 is without smartmedia, but frankly speaking the cards cost is too expensive and i know you can play only 1 sample at time from card space...

saying that cLOUDDEAD has made a monster of album (the first) only with this machine (and some recorders..)...

if you find one very cheap (not more than 80/100usd) take it.

one thing about the 202 and the 303..........they are by far the sexiest sp's out, imo....

i want a 202, but have no reason to buy one, if one cropped up for really cheap id get it, but otherwise, nah...

i agree. i bought it just to make a companion to the yamaha su10, so now i have a "dead battery combo"
sp202 cannot resample, cannot sequence, cannot copy samples etc but it got a real warm sound and good filters. i take it at 50€ (74usd) and i'm ok at that price, but not more. so, if you find very cheap take it, if not don't.

.... Just wanna conclude this thread by saying that I no longer have a 303 anymore lol...got rid of it a while ago actually... still rocking the 606 tho!
