How can I apply an effect to an external mic?

I want to know if I can apply an effect to an external mic plugged into the Sp-555 without having to sample my voice first and then add the effect after it has been recorded. I would like to know if its possible to add effects on the fly without having to record first and then apply.

Also is it possible to add effects to the synth?

Any advice would be appreciated.

hold effect assign and press line-in, MIC, or SYNTH and it will apply the effect to them.
