Hi
Answer depends on what midi conrtol you want. The 404 should be able to play it's patterns in time with the Electribe or play it's samples triggered by the Electribe sequencer.
To play patterns in time the 404 is I think already set to follow incoming midi clock - but check the manual to see how to make that setting to be sure.
The electribe is going to have to be set to transmit midi clock and also MMC (midi machine control) so the 404 gets midi start/stop commands.
To play samples. Each 404 pad is assigned to a specific midi note (list in the manual). The midi channel transmitted by the electribe must match the one set in the 404. Default channel on the 404 is ch1 with the last 4 card banks on the next highest channel (ch2 if set for ch1). The electribe sequencer must then be transmitting the right midi notes to match a 404 pad note. If there is no sample on the pad for a midi note, you won't hear anything.

Just when you think things couldn't get any more exciting - they don't.
