i act like that: i use photoshop to edit a picture. i go to image size and i put it at 75x75 pixel, as suggested. but the kib dimension is always more than 10 kib, to arrive near 10kib i have a super little image...

sample it in 8bit :D

lol...i tried on photoshop and failed aswell... try doing it on paint and save it as a .gif... that discards some color information and brings the size down considerably... don't know if u can upload gifs as an avatar tho...might as well try

You need to use the "File > Save for Web" option in Photoshop. This way it compresses the image. Should be pretty easy to make it less than 10kB that way, but I changed the maximum file size to 20kB just in case.

If you still can't get it to work please email me your avatar and I will set it up for you. Or just use an image host like tinypic.com like suggested by other members.
