edan question

Post by fauna »

i have a feeling i'm gonna get my head blown off for this, BUT....

am i the only person in the world who really dislikes Edan's vocal delivery?

i love his production.

i like his lyrics.

but i think his vocal style just tries SO hard to sound black and have street cred....especially frustrating given that his shit would stand on its own without this. i don't know a LOT of his stuff, but that vox style's in everything i've got.

to me its like dudes from north america singing with an english accent. you know, it sounds okay until you think about it a bit. and then its like wait a minute....wft?

now again, i know there are a lotta dudes on here who like this guy (and i do too), but i feel like i'm the only one in the world who's got a problem with this part of the dude's stuff, so i thought i'd see.

am i alone here?

Yeeeah I don't like his voice that much either. I think Rodan would sound pretty decent over his beats, though.

I like Edan, that color joint off his new one was ill, sing it shitface was dope, and that one about stealing peoples shit too...agree on his voice though and his "trying to hard" thing, but it doesn't bother me that much

I always kindof thought of it as an East Coast, NY/Boston accent. Doesn't really bother me.

What do you guys think of Paul Barman's steelo? He's got some dope/hilarious flows. Peep it:

Just checked out a couple tracks. You could go with the "trying too hard" argument, could as easily be the dude is really into the shit he's saying. Sounds to me like he hears the shit in his head in voice other than his own and maybe models his delivery after that. When I used to freestyle and write I always heard the shit in my head as if NARD from Do or Die was spitting it or sometimes RBX. Edan's shit sounds dope to me.
