Trouble with an xd to smartmedia adapter

I posted this in the 202 forum, but it seems this one gets more traffic so I figured I'd post it here too:

So in an effort to avoid paying up to $100 for one of the 5 volt memory cards, I got one of these xd to smartmedia adapters. According to the posts in the 303 forum, I have the adapter that works (at least with the 303's) but when I plug it into my 202, nothing happens, and the C/D banks won't light up.

Anyone have a similar problem before? I went and bought a new xd card, so I'm pretty sure it's not that. Any help is appreciated.




I know the machines are different, so hopefully this isn't just something that will work with a 303 but not a 202. Help!
