peak level question

quick question for those who have used the 303 for awhile.Does it matter if the peak level lights up alot during playback?I try to record all my samples with the peak level light never coming on but during playback it always lights up and i was wonderin if thats hurting the machine in anyway?

hey man

i don't think that'll damage your SP, but might contribute to blowing an amp or some external speaker if it gets serious...i think it'll be obvious if that's gonna happen though, ie there'll be more warning signs than just the peak indicator light lighting up

I was overdoing the peak meter and blew a speaker last week. 303 is fine though!

pretty shure everyone knows this but , when sampling with the 303 i think its best to adjust the input till the peak baerly flickers, then go a hair down so it doesnt clip . 3 cents

I think it's safe to say that this method goes for all the samplers out there. Make your samples as loud as possible without any clipping. you can always turn a loud clean sample into some low volume grimy shit (if needed), but the other way around is never gonna work very well.
