I have a question about features. I'm interested in using only the sampler without a computer. I know that the SP 606 works well with a computer, but it seems that its features are the most appealing SP even without the computer connectivity. I currently have an SP 404 but would like some more in depth editing features and the motion filter stuff is pretty cool.
Can I use the sequencer in the same way that the SP 404 sequencer functions? I make mostly psychedelic folk music and therefore use long samples there doesn't need to be really intricate editing.
Also, is step sequencing optional without the computer because that's an interesting option since I started on an ES-1.
Is it possible to have one of the 606's tracks sequencing my Alesis Micron? This isn't a big concern because I don't think it's possible with any SP.
Thanks in advance.

Yes. It features a 4-track sequencer

Yep

No- you can't sequence external modules.

I have question what on earth is psychedelic folk music?
thanks
I don't know really. I guess folk music with lots of bleeps and bloops. Thanks for the help, I'm definitely looking to purchase the SP 606. The looper on the SP 555 is very appealing for live performances, but I would need more than 15 seconds. I'm looking to get either a Gibson Echoplex or Electrix Repeater in order to sync to Midi. I also have an Alesis MMT-8 which in conjunction with the SP 606 could be interesting.
Okay I have a couple of other questions.
1) I am going to MIDI sync my SP606 to my Alesis MMT-8 Hardware Sequencer. Reading about the SP404 in the SPI forum, it says that a pattern can be triggered as soon as I press play on my sequencer. Is this option still possible on the SP606? And most importantly, does the bpm automatically sync? For example, if the sequencer has a master tempo of 140bpm, does that make all patterns on the SP606 at 140bpm rather than whatever tempo they are set to on the SP606?
2) Assuming the bpm syncs in the above scenario, is I increase the bpm on my sequencer in real-time, will the samples timestretch to stay with the tempo?
3) Is pattern copying an option on the SP606 or just the SP555?
Thanks!

Yes, if you have set the 606 to slave to MIDI clock.

Yes, if they have been programmed to tempo match.

Yes
