loop problem

Post by korakios »

Hello to everyone here,I need your help plz!
When i record or resample anything in "long mode" I have this annoying problem:I cannot set the f**** sample in loop play-mode.it always stops at the end or few times it loops but with crackles, clics and randomly...
Any ideas ...?
(I ckecked the parameters of the sample, the firmware version but nothing...i noticed that everything works smooth on "standard mode")

Long mode will sacrifice quality for more sample time. Use standard mode for the best quality.

Try putting a new copy of the firmware on your card and loading it to the 606 and see what happens, if that doesn't work try a new mem. card. I doubt it's the machine.

I have the latest 1.11 version but i will reload it...i noticed that in "rolandus" not the "global" site the version for downloading is 1.09...however i don't believe there is any difference since the 1.11 is for vlink function...
..thanks Euclid Ov Oåklånd...i'll give it a try

Yeah, even if you have the newest version firmware it might still be malfunctioning. A simple test of loading a fresh copy could fix it, or at least eliminate it as a possible source of the problem.

if i understand u, correctly, it seems like when u put the loop into a pattern its either "short" or "distorted". this isnt a sampling problem but rather a timing issue. when i plug in a 2sec sample if my bpms arent right it loops fast and creates clicks... or if set to LOOP ON and the sample is too short itll double loop before the next bar (if using step edit or real time edit w/changes). sometimes its better to chop the loop by hand and actually "play" the loop. its gonna take some time but thats a great way to do it. as far as the loop mode problem try restoring your sp. it could be a firmware glitch? but its incredably hard to pin point being that u may be the only cat with this problem.

remember if u havent tried chopping or bpm matching will get up dope results... hope this answers your Q.

If you resample a pad with the bpm sync on it will clip the sample. Also if you truncate it with out saving the edited sample it will stretch or clip it.

clipping... no, only if u allow "dead air" or a "zeroing out of the sample instead of ending the sample directly when its over.

if u truncate it wont strech the sample. it only provides you with a "clip" of the original complete with a new measure when set to phrase. but it can cause clicks.

it would be dope if roland had "correction" for time streching.
the only other alternative is using the step edit feature "tie" where say on

1-1-00 you hit a pad and jump to 2-1-00 by pressing "tie" that sample will play for that entire bare damn near perfectly but your sample have to be almost as precise...

i have a song on myspace called youmejoy that utlizes this technique. i was experimenting with soul music since i sample from other shyt and came up with this....

Thanks all of you but the problem is simple!
I record some stuff 2 to 5 second...lets say on pad1 of bank1...if i set the parameter loop to "on" every time i hit pad1 the sample plays over and over...BUT if i record in "long mode" it doesNOT happen...after playing once the sample freaks out...also i don't use the bpm sync feature...
...i guess the firmware i downloaded might be a little broken so i will download and "intialize" again..
I thought this was a "bug" issue but maybe it's only in my gear...it's not important but i wanted to ask....again thanks...!

I cant believe that the problem is solved!I don;t know what step did the trick but i refomart the cf card ,loaded the default patterns-samples and once again i loaded the firmware...
I also noticed that when i used to cut a sample in sample-edit mode it used to 'click' in the beginning...now all work smooth...
...thank u all!
