404 OG CARD READER ISSUE

Hey dudes!

I bought this unit a few months ago but never had a chance to use a memory card with it until now. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to detect any of the cards I've tried.

I've tested a 32MB Akai card, a couple of 1GB SanDisk cards, and a 512MB Lexar card, but none of them are recognized. I can't select any banks, as if there were no card inserted at all. Pressing cancel + remain also does nothing

Has anyone experienced this before or know what might be causing it? My guess is that the reader itself might be damaged or unsoldered from the board

I assume you've tried formatting?

After that, first thing I'd try would be to spray some contact cleaner inside the holes on the CF card and insert/take out repeatedly.

Formatted to both fat and fat32

The previous owner just told me he tried 2 cf cards, one would shut the unit down and the other one would display the dots as if it was reading it but it wouldn't let him format or access the banks

I might just open it to dust it off and see what happens


Edit: just noticed that it also blinks after i insert a card. and checked the os version, it's on 1.05
