Advantages of doing this are:
- Endlessly bouncing audio between Koala & the mk2.
- Running audio through additional AUV3 effects apps.
- Sequencing both via apps like LK or Drambo.
- Recording whole tracks in the host’s session (the AUV3 host + sequencer can act like a DAW).
Set up is simple:
- Koala in an audio channel as an effect.
- USB audio in from the mk2.
- USB audio out to the mk2, set to channels 3 & 4.
Using channels 3 & 4 somehow avoids feedback loops. Not sure why or how it works like that but it does. Whenever I’ve messed up the audio routing all I’ve gotten is either extremely quiet resamples or a crappy slapback echo, no ear shattering blasts.
Depending on how far you may want to take this set up, add a midi controller aimed at the AUV3 sequencer so you can play Koala & the mk2 seamlessly.
In LK I set the mk2’s track(s) to the Koala preset because the mk2’s pads align with Koala’s bank A. Keep the mk2 in midi mode A so it’s neat & easy.
