Yamaha SU10 Screen/Display

Post by Girru »

Would've put this in 'Other Gear' but didn't think it'd be seen all the way down there and there's a time element.

I just bought an SU10 to fill the role of an MS-1 while I wait for a nice one to come up and the screen is reeeeeal dim. The characters are unreadable looking straight on and you have to tilt it at an angle to read them, and then it's kinda OK.

I realise it's probs nearly 30 years old and the liquid crystal might be wearing out...so I just wanted to check with other users that theirs are the same or if some are still OK. I've looked at photos on other listings and vids on youtube etc but that's been somewhat inconclusive. If you can still get ones with good screens then I'll return it as faulty.

So, anyone got one?

So the screen writing is strong and clear no matter what angle you're looking at it?

Batteries or adaptor, didn't make a difference. If you meant like a button battery for retaining the memory, nah, I wasn't gonna crack it open in case I decided to send it back. Which I did.
