303 Right input issue

Post by Riga Sage »

Greetings to the sp community!

I just became an owner of a 303. The thing is, it's right input is dead, and i definitely pray that's gonna be the RCA. How frequent is for any rca of 303 dying versus anything going wrong with the circuit underneath?

I opened it up, cleaned it nice and good following a thread here. Now i aint any electrician or sometihng, so i don't touch anything on the board. Despite a tiny spill of colour on the tape-like thing,(?) that connects top with bottom board, everything seems fine. Nothing broken or hitten or rust.

Any tips are welcomed.

You need to make sure there are no cracks in the solder joints that connect the rca plugs to the board, you can wiggle the plug around to to see if the solder pad(s) is completely ripped off the board from years of being flexed back and forth.

Turns out it wasnt the rca.

Second from the top circuit board, right in front of the inputs/outputs, a tiny part of the circuit was falling off. Probably happened from bad use and old age in the first place, a very dear and very capable friend of mine fixed it.

Sorry man I've closed the box now. If you get it to any electrician with some musical equipment expertise he will get it as soon as he sees it.

Hope it gets fixed for you aswell mate
