Akai fire with sp 404

Is anyone using the combination of the akai fire and an sp? I used to use fl studio (cracked) when I first started making beats. So, I got the akai fire because it was designed based of of the legacy pattern sequencer in fl and also because it comes with a free fl studio download. I think it would be cool if I could seamlessly use the fire in conjunction with the sp 404. I’ve seen cats use the sp effects while the sounds from fl are going through the external source playing the beat with the akai fire. What I’m hoping will work is I play samples in with the sp and sequence with the fire. Anyone doing this? Will it work?

I'd advise Maschine Mikro over that Akai Fire .

Might just be my personal preference .. that FL Studio sequencer turns me off
