Effect Limit Mode ON:

Cutoff/Resonance
1. Cutoff(C o f) CTRL 1 turned all the way up Resonance(r E S) CTRL 2 turned completely down.png
1. Cutoff(C o f) CTRL 1 turned all the way up Resonance(r E S) CTRL 2 turned completely down.png (425.88 KiB) Viewed 5140 times
Cutoff(C o f) turned all the way up to 8000hz, Resonance(r E S) turned all the way down

This virtually makes no difference in the spectrum.
2. Cutoff(C o f) CTRL 1 turned all the way up to 8000hz Resonance(r E S) CTRL 2 turned all the way up.png
2. Cutoff(C o f) CTRL 1 turned all the way up to 8000hz Resonance(r E S) CTRL 2 turned all the way up.png (389.5 KiB) Viewed 5140 times
Cutoff(C o f) turned all the way up to 8000hz, Resonance(r E S) turned all the way up

Creates a spike at 8000hz
3. Cutoff(C o f) CTRL 1 turned all the way down - 500hz Resonance(r E S) CTRL 2 turned all the way up.png
3. Cutoff(C o f) CTRL 1 turned all the way down - 500hz Resonance(r E S) CTRL 2 turned all the way up.png (392.66 KiB) Viewed 5140 times
Cutoff(C o f) turned all the way down to 500hz, Resonance(r E S) turned all the way up

Boosts the Cutoff(C o f) frequency at 500hz by about +12db similar to a +12db bell filter with a Q setting of 1.4 approximately 1 octave.
4. Cutoff(C o f) CTRL 1 turned all the way down - 500hz Resonance(r E S) CTRL 2 turned all the way down.png
4. Cutoff(C o f) CTRL 1 turned all the way down - 500hz Resonance(r E S) CTRL 2 turned all the way down.png (387.58 KiB) Viewed 5140 times
Cutoff(C o f) turned all the way down to 500hz, Resonance(r E S) turned all the way down

This is most comparable to a -24db analog high shelf filter at 500hz with a Q of 24.0

Drive 2.png

The drive with effect limit mode on simply adds distortion to the entire
frequency spectrum, but also trims the high end with a -6db curve
2.5 Cutoff(C o f) CTRL 1 turned all the way up to 8000hz Resonance(r E S) CTRL 2 turned all the way up Drive(dr U) CTRL 3.png
2.5 Cutoff(C o f) CTRL 1 turned all the way up to 8000hz Resonance(r E S) CTRL 2 turned all the way up Drive(dr U) CTRL 3.png (389.25 KiB) Viewed 5140 times
With the Cutoff(C o f) turned all the way up to 8000hz, the Resonance(r E S) turned all the way up and the Drive(dr U) turned all the way up this is the only instance where I noticed turning the Drive(dr U) up altered the frequency spectrum other than adding distortion and odd harmonics, it applies a small shelf cut to the high end.

Effect Limit Mode OFF:

Cutoff/Resonance

The only difference with EFFECT LIMIT MODE OFF is that when you
turn the Resonance (r ES) CTRL 2 knob up, it adds odd harmonics and colouration to all the frequencies above the cutoff point.
EFFECT LIMIT MODE OFF Cutoff(C o f) CTRL 1 turned all the way down to 500hz Resonance(r E S) CTRL 2 turned all the way up.png
EFFECT LIMIT MODE OFF Cutoff(C o f) CTRL 1 turned all the way down to 500hz Resonance(r E S) CTRL 2 turned all the way up.png (432.48 KiB) Viewed 5140 times
Cutoff(C o f) turned all the way down to 500hz, Resonance(r E S) turned all the way up
EFFECT LMIT MODE OFF 2. Cutoff(C o f) CTRL 1 turned all the way up to 8000hz Resonance(r E S) CTRL 2 turned all the way up.png
EFFECT LMIT MODE OFF 2. Cutoff(C o f) CTRL 1 turned all the way up to 8000hz Resonance(r E S) CTRL 2 turned all the way up.png (403.89 KiB) Viewed 5140 times
Cutoff(C o f) turned all the way up to 8000hz, Resonance(r E S) turned all the way up

Drive

With the effect limit mode off drive adds a flat low pass filter at 16000hz when it is turned all the way up. This is the only frequency spectrum alteration I found.

This is dope. I'm going to have to play around with the effect to put this all in context. Thanks for sharing your research!

Great. Thx.
Are you using external white noise?
Would be interesting to compare true white noise with the internal noise.

Yes, this is actually white noise from Abletons operator, ran through the SP404sx, and back into Ableton for analysis. White noise is just white noise though. I'm pretty positive it would be the same result.
