Cheapest way to record my 404 into my DAW?
Hey guys, I’m new here and just got a 404sx and would like to know the easiest/cheapest way to record directly into Logic?

RCA output on your SP to audio input of your soundcard / DAW.
That cable is, like, 2$
don't think you can go cheaper than that.
But - you have SD card in your SP. Unless you wanna record something THROUGH the 404, dunno, for using FX or something - you don't need to record. Take the SD card out, put in your PC or whatever, copy the samples, and you're off.

yessss download on your pc SP404SX WAVE CONVERTER
it's freeware easily found with a google search
perfect if you want to work with getting high fidelity recordings from an analog source. sp404sx records in 16bit lossless wav, then you don't have to depend on some digital soundcard unreliable fidelity recording, you just directly transfer that lossless wav file to your computer. it's the shit. def my fav thing about the SX

You don't need any extra software. Just copy the files from your sd card.
Zendan I heard that girl slapped the absolute shit out of you. What did you do to her?

No, Cap is right. You don't need software. As long the card was formatted in the 404, you can swap SD with your PC all day.

you
cannot
import
an
audio
file
from
your
computer
onto
your
sd
without
wave converter
of course you can get files off the SD onto the computer, you can't put them ON the SD FROM the computer without wave converter

Wrong.
You don't need software to import samples either.
You clearly have no depth of knowledge

you're wrong
wave converter, which is software created by roland, would not exist if that were true
prove me wrong
show me proof
you're obviously trolling and ill green had misunderstood

Re: Cheapest way to record my 404 into my DAW?
If you name the files the same way that the SP names them (like J00000000001 or whatever - but it has to be the exact same way, with the exact same number of those zeros or whatever the fuck they are), and then just copy/paste them into the SD card's "sample" folder from your PC - it ought to work. There's no reason why it shouldn't, at least I don't see one.
Seem to remember someone talking about it on some other forum somewhere, but I could be wrong.
Even if that's true - downside would be that it's painstakingly slow process, so I don't see the point in doing it.

Sorry loop, that's not correct either. Have you never used the import function on the SP? Allow me:

Serves to prove that ol' saying still works
When everything else fails, read the damn manual.

Mmm hmm. Works on the 404 OG without software. Should be the same... import/export function.

ok so basically you were proving me wrong just to prove me wrong with no point because the first thing the link you sent me (of the roland sp404sx manual about how to import wav files) says is, " By using the included "SP-404SX Wave Converter"software, you can easily import WAVE fi les from yourcomputer . For details, refer to "Importing Wave Filesfrom Your Computer" (p . 22) "
then it gives you some crazy ass computer hacker 20 step method on how to hack into the sd card and not use the wave converter for some reason? probably just to be thorough. there's no reason anyone should do that it's pointless. but now i understand that you're just talking shit and trying to give me a hard time because that was a really dumb and meaningless point you were trying to prove. thanks for showing me you can hack into the SD card through an extremely time consuming, confusing, tedious process if you desire not to listen to what the first thing the manual tells you to do is. which is use wave converter. i'm glad you enlightened me.
