Is it possible to turn on effects whilst resampling on 303?

Yo, I just got a 303 yesterday and I'm new to Roland samplers in general.

So I'm messing around with the resampling, trying to get the hang of it. I want to turn on delay in the middle of sample playback, whilst resampling and I'm wondering is that even possible?

I can't seem get it to work by just hitting the delay button or by using the effects grab. Is the only option to resample with effects on from the start?

Nope. Effects have to be applied to pads prior to resampling. You could record into another 303 and apply effects during.
