Need help with an sp.404 og card

Hi guys!i reaaly need some help here
So i just got a new flash compact card reader for the pc,and when i placed the card there some error went on and now when i plug back in into the sp 404og its says the card needs to be formated.
I can try to read the card wirh a decent reader and try to put the folders names in order.but i dont know if its gona.work.
