Ehi freaks! Been long since I've last posted here and I think I gotta get back with style. So here I present this beatcontest I'm setting up for july 28th in Padua (IT).
Here is the description of the event (translated from italian with google translate :p) with the facebook link below.

Wut up players! Ready for spicy cooking to which we will be submitted from here to September? Well, better keep your samplers cool because there will be the first edition of the beatmaking contest "Dig the Gig!"!
Have you ever watched an episode of Rhythm Roulette by Mass Appeal? Here, it has nothing to do with it. Practically will work like this (the mode, then the phases, is still to be defined well -> can be subjected to changes): each participant will have 4 vinyls to sample and with which he will have to do beat with his/her own equipment (sampler, laptop, Rick Sanchezs travel gun, ...). These beats will be evaluated by a jury composed of 3 elements (from who will know soon). We will start in the afternoon just to have time to sample and make the beats, as well as chilling between a basketball / soccer field, green and many other facilities that the Brentella Park offers us. Ah yes, we are in Padua, half an hour from the train station. [you can get there by bus]. The prizes are being evaluated, but there are certainly bottles of vinoh biancoh included.
Participation fee: € 5 can be fine

mode
• 4 vinyls to choose from;
• Imaginative sampling, but not detrimental to the vinyl;
• You can scratch (timed..like 2 minutes to find the routine and record);
• Setting adjusted: do not change anything (turntable, sound card, ... apart from the eq of the mixer);
• Use your platforms (sampler, laptop, ...)

Phases

-qualif / octave: vinyl A *
-quarters: vinyl B *
-semi: vinyl C **
-final: beat from home

* : build a beat using ONLY elements taken from sampling (drums, leads, vocal, etc.)
** : build a beat using samples plus other elements of your library

21-21: 30: DJ set
21: 30-22: live
22-24: contest + juries against the mf clock

It just for one day. If you don't speak italian it's ok, i'll translate for you. There are b&bs near there, but I don't guarantee if there will be a room below 30€..in case i can host you at my place..i'm gathering the people right now..at least 5 people is surely coming and two members of the jury have been found.
