midi sync

Hi,

Trying to use two 808s as 8 tracks sequencer. Using one as MTC master the other as slave. Can get one to play and control the position of the song on the other ok. Problems I am having are when I press play on master the slave doesn't play sound until beat 2 bar 1, it is starting ok just not sounding until then, it is all in sync so not latency issues, any ideas/experience? (did think I could just try beginning the song not at beat1bar1 edit: seems to work but would be good to know why doesn't work from beat 1)
Other issue is the Master track volume sliders effect the slave track sliders, I need to be able to set the track volumes independently of each other, possible?
Another weird thing is the slave tempo seems to wobble about a few bpm?!

Weird. Hope you figure it out. Let us know what you discover with it. I personally would probably just use the 2 as dual live instruments/samplers. I like daisy chaining samplers and quickly resampling on the second machine, using it as a 2nd FX processor, etc..
