Hit REC via midi controller?

I'm pretty sure the answer is no, but is there a midi controller message that can act as the record button on the 505?

I'm hoping to make live samples with a custom-built foot pedal which can send out any MIDI message. It appears that samples can be triggered by MIDI, but not functions.

I could have sworn that I had heard somewhere of a pedal which only had one job: to hit record on the SP-X0X line of samplers.

Pedal works on 606 for arming record or MFX.
Will have to check on the 505 some time

Man, i believe it was SP-555 that you saw doin this. It can start recording loop when you hit simple jack footswitch or piano sustain pedal.
