GREEN DUTCH damn near broke my neck noddin' to this one! The DRUMS=PROPER CHOPS=cut with precision as always!
ASHORTTIMELATER-Vibin' out on this one. This was real smooth!
Marco 25 seconds of beat delicacy followed immediately by an assortment BANGIN BEATS! This was a wild one! Killer work here mister GROUCH.
noddy Showing your style in spades here! Samples are almost unrecognizable, good stuff.
nubes. damn SON! Knocked this one out of the park. Dem off beat drums is flavor! Like the loop you got out of the sample! Real nice! Bringing the lofi sticky icky!
ellaguru this one was fire! got this kinda mars volta type interlude goin on here. real psychedelic I dig it!
Teddyp nice microwave! enjoy when ever you step into the arena!
Brutus Pivo Nice compression work here! Drums sound dope! Loop is killer!
r4ph431 ralph coming into battle half man half machine- killer sounds here
Dobrebity-nice work here, would've like a switch up in there somewhere
cgko another contender here for my vote!! Yo to me this has a XMAS vibe to for some reason. DOPE none the less! killed it!
kszexwo-bringin out the ganster rap beats in 245! LOVIN' IT-some one shot vocal shot would've been sick!
IIIII-anotha1(hard ass beat) Bringing the muscle here! Doesn't get any tougher than this!

You guys all did your thing, I voted Green Dutch because the blackout concept was so dope to me.

Re: SPBB#245
I also went with Brutus. I thought the beat had a nice feel to it. I was noddin throughout. Second I would say Marco. I liked that last beat in that set.
Re: SPBB#245
Alright guys. Ima give it to ya straight. No bullshit, straight feedback.
Although already I know a hanfdul of you broke the rules in this round which were listed as follows...
I'm gonna go ahead and critique 'em to the best of my abilities.
Green Dutch: I don't recall that opening sample being in the file.
ASHORTTIMELATER: Again, refer to the first rule.
MarcoGrouch: Dope loops mang, I can really hear what you did with your SP's here. You lost me at that ouside sample though..
What are the point of the rules if you guys won't obey them?
noDDy hEAded fREak: You used the same string part that I did but you took it a step further by reversing it as well. I dig it. Thanks for sticking to the rules.
nubes: interesting beat.. u used samples from out side the file doe.
ellaguru: whoa. you got some crazy minimal shit going on here. pretty ambitious beat right here. gj
Teddyp: This feels good mang. Chopped and syncopated. Gj
Brutus Pivo: Dope flip, straight up rap beat. I hope you add an accapella later.
DobreBity: Again, please refer to the first rule.
CGKO: Thanks for sticking to the rules.
kszexwo: Again, thanks for sticking to the rules. Your song had a distinct feel to it and the limitations of the SP can clearly be heard. Please continue to participate in these battles.
IIIII: damn you for making me download your file
Chief Bob: ....
What part of "only use the samples in the file" did you guys not understand??
My favorite beats were Ellagurus and Teddyp's, however,
Ellaguru gets my vote for making something interesting and different.

Thanks man, I used the D-Beam and started channeling my Boys Noize and Huoratron influences for this one. Trying to change it up from the usual lofi hip hop stuff everyone always posts on here. Cheers

Re: SPBB#245
To be honest, I only used a very short vocal snippet in my track (less than 5 seconds), I was under the impression that the sample rule was referencing the majority of the melodic shit in the beat but i see your point too.

Re: SPBB#245
Sp battles are about pushing yourself to use the provided samples based on the rules. Winner picks the rules and you respect them to get yourself out of the comfort zone. Winning isn't the point, having fun and learning new ways to use the equipment is, or was. I sometimes go out the lane but am 100% cool with a disqualification. sp's can make kicks and snares w/o any samples, we used to do this with one song, no drums

Re: SPBB#245
yeah I agree
The rules look less ambiguous reading them now.
I'd be in favor of an official vote to DQ erryone with a speech snippet if this is what was intended.
I'll be the first to voluntarily withdraw to defend the honor of the ruleset
EDIT: personal apology to Bob, if I was complacent in frontin on your battle I apologize for disrespecting your ruleset
EDIT2: I just realized Bob was host but Bob also used dialogue, so idk which way this is goin

Re: SPBB#245
Hey guys! I voted for Brutus Pivo. Loved the beat.
I really like the minimal resources spbbs. By that i mean one sample, without the use of external anything (drums, synths, vocals, etc). Without this, it's just another generic beat battle imho. Extracting hats and snares from sample snippets is fun.

shoutout to r4ph for holding us accountable lol... I def try to follow the rules completely when I do these.. I feel like that is the most important part in terms of the exercise of being forced to make a beat a certain way... that being said there are def times when ive gone over the time limit... one time I used a movie quote from pulp fiction because I wanted to be cool and it seemed like everybody else was doin it... also, when voting, I usually only factor in rule breakings when its close... but its interesting to hear that some are using different drum samples... I feel like that is pretty egregious.

Agreed and like others said, I have no problem if im disqualified, the rules are made to make the battle harder. I just interpreted shit wrong.
