no way to fix a pattern's bpm? wtf???

I can't believe it.
Please tell me i missed something.

There is NO WAY to save a pattern's bpm information
that means
you have to remember what bpm you played the pattern initially everytime?

If the above is correct,
you will see my sp 555 on ebay by tomorrow.

that's certainly the case w/ the 404. i keep extensive notes.

wow..you could just invest in a pencil,maybe a few peices of paper.this is worse than the no panning guy.i mean,the 555 is a DOPE machine,it would be kinda ridiculous to let it go over that.no offense.

ahah no offense don't worry! i dont want to diss on this piece of gear, it's just tremendously not fitting for me, it just cant help.
I dont make hiphop, or slow stuff whatsoever and i needed a sequencer. Honestly you can't call this a sequencer properly. This is something more like a "recorder". Yeah maybe it's totally my fault, i chose the wrong machine, but how could i know?

i dont know if this is what youre talking about but on my 606 the only way to change the bpm and save it is to do it in realtime recording. just start recording, change to desired bpm, and let the sequence play thru, and hit stop. i hope this works for you but i've never touched a 555.

no it doesn't work, i tried that... but patterns only get the global bpm

Go get your self a proper sequencer with a sampler then, something like the korg esx.. oh wait it uses ancient smart media cards and it sucks at samplin straight into the machine, and getting files from yoru pc to the unit is a hassle

but it remembers bpm...

My point being that every machine will have a small amount of problems or set backs, which is why you use other pieces of gear to get around it.

You could use an external device to set your bpm anyway, I currently have the korg emx synching to the 555's clock , the 555 is telling the emx to be at 125bpm (i love breakbeat)

I could have swapped them to have the emx clock being the main one, then whenever i change the track on the emx the bpm changes on the 555.

Its all optional, and up to you in the end.

If you bought a 555 without realising it's not got more than the most rudimentary sequencer,

you shoulda done your homework. . there's no other way to put it!

I know its a obvious trick but sometimes when I'm out with the 404 I use the internal mic to record my voice onto a pad saying "xxbpms" and put that into the sequence- then delete it when its time to record.

in fact i did try to get as many answers to my questions as i could, especially here on the forums... but sometimes trial and error is the only way to get a first person experience... ya know
