Loading samples?

Hello,

I have samples imported onto an external bank via smartmedia card in .wav format. Each time I turn on my sampler I have to reselect which bank I want them on and then wait for them to load, and once this is done basic effects such as loop have to be re-added. Is this standard or am I doing something wrong?
