I JUST DISCOVERED A TREASURE(DELETE MODE)
Also in delete mode...before you go into delete mode you can do the DAKIM EFX i.E MAKE A DRUM LOOP VIA DELAY,then go into DELETE MODE and your DAKIM loop will still play as you lay over your chops!!!
Re: I JUST DISCOVERED A TREASURE(DELETE MODE)
Having a hard time wrapping my tiny mind around this. Since I'm not at the studio tonight could you break the benefit of this down? What are you gaining? I'm vetty, vetty intrigued.

Re: I JUST DISCOVERED A TREASURE(DELETE MODE)
To me it seems like the biggest benefit of this is being able to create a loop on the fly (drums/samples) and then being able to use delete mode to create what are essentially mute groups to freestyle over your dakim loop.
There is another thread that details the dakim beat delay method pretty thoroughly so I won't describe it here, but the combination of dakim delay and delete mode is pretty damn ingenious.
Props to beatjitzu. Keepin the ninja game strong as always

Another bonus is that you also don't lose any polyphony, which you would with resampling.
Now, it gets even more interesting after you bounce say 4 or 8 bars of something over to your daw/other sp and then bring that back in through ext source and enter delete mode again. You could layer for days without really worrying about the polyphony limitations of your machine, i.e. stereo samples for days.

Oh, okay. I'm with ya now.
I had to go and reread the delete mode trick. Forgot about that nugget of joy.
Gotta play around with this tomorrow night and see what's up.
404 + MPC + 4-track = zen thursday

Re: I JUST DISCOVERED A TREASURE(DELETE MODE)
for what sp model?
Re: I JUST DISCOVERED A TREASURE(DELETE MODE)
I've been able to do it with the og 404. Can't tell ya about the sx, though I'm sure it's gotta work there as well.
This sounds obvious but make sure you hit cancel when you wanna get out of it and watch that del key. I've deleted samples by accident, but that's how you learn I guess

Re: I JUST DISCOVERED A TREASURE(DELETE MODE)
gonna try this on sp303 505 and 606. thanx!
edit
i forget that on delete mode you cannot hear samples on the 505, maybe also on the 606

it works on the 606. But there is an issue: when you left pushing a pad, the other one stops too, don t know if it's the same for the 404...anyway the 606 got its own mute groups (and also, with the dakim method, you have 2 simultaneous fx as a big plus because you can use mfx2 -the output fx- as the main delay and mfx1 -the imput fx- as live effect to apply different fx on new coming live loops. I think it's a process wich could be done also on the 555)

Not possible on 555. Pretty sure the 606 is only sp with two effects at once. Maybe 808???

ah, my bad, sorry about that...
anyway i ve tried today this way and it opens other possibility beacaus you can switch between mfx1 and 2 while playing , so you can , for example got the main delay on mfx1 and the comp (or Others) on mfx2 and viceversa, and on the fly you can change that (while you re exchanging, you can have delay on mfx1 and mfx2 so in order not to stop teh vibing and the looping),so this allow you to use the main delay before or after some fx. i also found that that 2fx way allow you to create some synced rytmical phrases on the fly combining slicer+delay or bpm tremolo or feedback reaper (a weird and cool effect on the 606 wich allow to do litlle remixing live)+delay...plus: this last one effect got a feedback too, wich works similarly to SP delay...and maybe the pitch shifter works also with feedback, who knows....maybe i'll post all that results on the 606 section
