Sample Manipulation ADSR

Hey guys,
I just bought a sp404sx not too long ago and I've been dedicating myself to it in order to get away from the computer. What I love about the sampler in ableton, is that it allows me to create a synth pad out of any sample. Is it possible to do this on the sp404sx? In ableton I shrink the loop points until i get a a wave I can manipulate. I then apply effects. What are your methods in turning let's say a dog barking into a lush pad! Thanks.
