I dont understand how to Use a SM Card

I'm looking in the manual on page 67 under "Saving data on a memory card(Save)"

On part 6 it shows:

System card save sample
From: USER 1
To: Backup 1

Execute / cancel

I dont understand what the from and to is about. Am I making a sample on USER 1 first then copying and pasting in Backup 1? using the Card saving option? I dont understand what Back up is either. The book doesnt go into detail what these 2 things are. How do I use this?

i think backup stand for saving samples (sounds)+patterns/songs(midi notes, bpm etc)
