New SP at NAMM 2016?

Post by megamaeng »

Saw this thread over at gearslutz. Obviously we should take this with a huuuuuge grain of salt.

https://www.gearslutz.com/board/rap-hip-hop-engineering-production/1045720-roland-going-get-all-your-money-after-namm-2016-a.html

This guy likes to talk hyperbole but did correctly leak the mpc touch. So I'm hoping for an updated sp but in reality we'll probably be subjected to some overbloated workstation.

Some sort of portable sp utilizing the plugout concepts of the aira system 1 would be awesome.

Ladies and gentlemen, start your saving! Every new year brings in a new NAMM show. If Roland has the new SP on the way, it's going to be a interesting year, and a game changer here. Kind of wonder what medium will be used to store samples. Hope it doesn't try to copy or clone Machine/Mpc Renaissance. Want it to have more effects all the other SP's will get jealous of. Intergration into a AIRA setup would be sweet. (Data transferring audio/midi through 1 USB cable into a MX1).

Only thing is, even if Roland announces this by winter NAMM 2016, when is it ready to hit the market? What will it cost? Is it going to make the SP404 sound warmer by comparison? To soon to say. But I better hurry up and get my Gaia home soon so I can start saving for this new sampler.

I hope this won't be another keyboard and more like an MPC killer.

At the very least, we'll get another subforum haha.

Sounds like it will have 16 pads not a keyboard, which is promising. But I'm losing hope that it will be couch friendly. I don't care about the emulations or all that but I'd love to see something with a familiar sp workflow that leverages updated technology. Maybe something that has seamless integration with the computer but without any differentiation between connected to computer or not? Maybe it can be opened as a vst for easy multitracking without any difference between sampling via the hardware unit or importing wavs on the computer. And you can unplug from the computer anytime and it will work just the same. I highly doubt that this will be the case but one can dream.

last time they gave nod to the SP series, that just tacked it onto one of their old workstations. Highly doubting they'll do anything worth owning in the series again, unless they reissue/update old shits like the 303 or 505 or 606 or 555.

I been hearing about a top secret MV to be a hybrid of hardware and software. They worked on it since Maschine Studio was announced. The source was an ex-employee at Roland USA.

If its true it could be the MV. But I would love a suped up SP and with, finally, **GASP** pitch tuning!
