For an album, I think it helps to have a goal/theme.

Methods? whatever sounds good. I recommend A/Bing your stuff vs. someone you like on certain track. Try different FX. Exclude a track that is not working....build up on one that is. Don't be afraid to experiment.
Analog synths and SP samplers love each other btw.

Inspiration is everywhere, from other artists to silence by yourself to hearing a sample you want to grab....

Process: record a lot; trim/edit/add/criticize/cut/improve...
