So, I apologize if this irritates anyone (I know other forums hate this), but I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction of a plugin that sounds like the synth used in the song linked below. If there is no such plugin, it would be fantastic if someone could give me a mini-tut on how to achieve this sound.

sounds like saws with a small reverb being ducked the fuck out by the kick, then it has tremolo added later in the song.

Hi,
Synths sure can seem overwhelming when your a newbie - I am too. Just like YungT said, I hear sawtooth waves in the first clip. Just long chords like pads that duck down with sidechain compression.
Old Roland Juno-6/60/106 are often said to be good entry synths to understand how synths work. Knobs/sliders for everything etc. Luckily there's a softsynth remake of it TOGU Tal U-No 62.

There are lots of different presets that you can scroll through and tweak as you like.
Like I said, I'm a newbie. So i bought a used Microbrute monophonic synth some months ago and downloaded Tal U-No for chords/pads/arps.

I second learning a little bit of the basics and noodling around....
Alternatively, you can pick a free synth that has a huge fanbase...why huge fanbase? LOTS OF PRESETS.
Synth1 comes to mind. I believe I've had on my computer at one time over 800 presets, and i had so much i had to use an external bank switcher program someone made for it.
Surely of the 800+ sounds for this synth, 1 must be close to what you want.
HOWEVER, there's a caveat...
Your notes sent to the synth will give it further character...if you're not playing even the exact same patch on the same gear that you're trying to copy but play it differently, it can sound like a completely different instrument...think of a trumpet player vs. a trumpet noob, if that makes sense...
So keep that in mind too...style can be just as important as sounds used (it's why you can stick a jazz keyboardist in front of any synth you'll always end up with funk and you stick a garage band type guy in front of a synth and you get NIN type stuff. ya dig?)

any poly synth that can do square and sawtooth oscillators+ cutoff from 12 to lower, mess with the resonnance to make it quack like u want.
