who wants to make a looper for djs?

Post by rak »

well on a previous topic (lets bring life back to these forums) someone brought on an idea about making a looper.yesterday i was jamming with a friend who's scratching and the idea came back!

we just need some beatmakers and a tech guy (computah freaks come on out don't be shy  ) to make the flash shit!

well..who's down with me?!?

Take a tape and loop it, get a recorder and put electrical tape over the erase head. Hit REC+PLAY and loop all day and night. :)

I made a looper about 6 years ago in ableton and an old USB computer typing keyboard.

I removed all but like 10 of the keys. Then I cut out some 2"x2" plastic squares and hot glued them to the remaining keys so I would have something bigger to trigger loops with my feet. I mapped the keys to appropriate parts in ableton. Worked like a charm.

Yo it was me, and I´d be down too.
I have done stuff in flash in the distant past, but not recently.. I know I have seen a specific tutorial for this somewhere though.. but if there´s someone who´s up-to-date already that would be even better.
I would like to propose a design/designs though... if somebody wants to do that also we can vote or smth :D
The graphics also depend on the number of beats though (= number of buttons).. so we should have a rough estimate to begin with.

Also, it´s nice if a looper has all kinds of tempos.. for example from 70 BPM to 140 BPM, and everywhere between.. it´s annoying when there are large caps IMO.. many loopers are lacking in the ~90...100 BPM temporange

For those out of the loop: we are not talking about hardware loopers or smth, we are talking about little "programs" (or "apps" in modern speak lol) which contain a number of beats that loop infinitely so you can practice skratching (or why not rapping or anything else) over them.

Eksotik well said :)

so how could that be done?maybe put a rough deadline?

as already said on the previous thread, beats have to be simple somehow,in order for scratches to easily get sounded over them.i mean something like drums, probably bassline and a main sample.

lets see if we can make it!
how many people are really interested?
