whats good yall.
ive been lurking these forums for a long time and its helped me a whole lot getting started with using the 303 and all its epicness.
I got the 303 from a homie of mine 3 years ago.
i borrowed his mpc2000xl for a summer (didnt even construct a beat on that shit but it was fun to play with haha) and once i gave it back he offered me a 303 for $150, a fucking steal but the pads were all worn out and fucked up. i left it in the box collecting dust for 2 and a half years and something was telling me to fix the pads and actually get my moneys worth. checked out the sp forums and found out a way to fix the pads, so i was like fuckit and took a gamble opening it up and fixing the contacts. it all worked out and been chopping shit ever since.
i barely got any equipment so i just record my beats on a tape deck and re record them on to my macbook
these tracks are pretty much 6 months of my journey learning and building my style. right now i feel like im hitting a wall cause theres so much out there and im getting overwhelmed with all these samples/drums/loops ive accumulated over time. maybe i just need some words of affirmation knowing that im on the right track
sorry for the essay but i just gotta put myself out there cause this machine got me to do things i had no idea i was capable of doing.
peace yall

What up. I peeped the scene and think your stuff sounds good. I have to say I wasn't feelin the trappish style joint, but was diggin everything else. I recently grabbed an sp303, the thing is frickin dope. It's definitely one of my favorite sp units. Anyways, The styles sound good to me, keep it up and have fun. Peace!!

thanks man. haha that trap shit was just me playing around with synths and external resampling. no real samples to give it life for sure.
thanks again for your input, imma keep working at it

I feel you man. I can only keep sounds in the sampler so long before I get sick of them.
If I can't use them for what I'm working on right there and then, I'll record them out onto cassette. Then go back to it later down the road.
I used to record bits of clips onto the computer. But when I had to reformat my hard drive before and lost everything it made me start recording back to tape so I had it all in a hard copy that was virtually indestructable (unless of course you record over it).
