Any tips on pitchshifting workarounds?

Post by Retur »

Hey all!

I got the 404OG some weeks ago and i love it! The only big issues i have with it is the missing pitch-function.

I made a beat, using chopped samples from a turntable, I sequenced my drums and started to think about the bassline. Im used to work on NI's Maschine and i want to play my bassnotes cromaticly on the pads. So... I sampled 12 bassnotes (g#2-g3) and started to look for the correct bassnotes for the sample.
Now, the record ran at +8% speed when i sampled it so the pitch is a bit off key. This means the correct bassnote (D#) is just kinda on-pitch. In Maschine i would just pitch my samplegroup something like -0,3 semitones to really fit the bass... But in the 404 im now kinda stuck sith the off-pitch bassline...

Is there a workaround for this INSIDE of the 404? I really dont want to export the sample to my cpu or anything... In that case i rather go back to the record and resample all my chops in tune.
I actually feel like this happens to me a lot when i pitch the record before sampling, it gets out of tune... I'd really like a sheet of numbers to translate the turtables %-pitch to actual semitones... But i guess that information doesnt excist.

Ok... I found a lot of info online about how to calculate % to semitones. My question is still the same thou... Any workarounds on the SP?

Use something else outside SP and sample your sources in at different pitches.

the middle knob on the DJFX looper can pitch down really small hits.
