Ableton Crashes When SP is used as audio interface

Hi again,

i have been using the sp as my sound card for quite a while now and usually never had any problems. maybe a crash here and there but nothing like this:
i started a new ableton project and got mostly audio tracks in it. one vst so far.
when i hit play it works fine but after a little while the sound card seems to crash (the never ending stutter sound-this happens when the vst track loops for a bit) and ableton with it. cant imagine to continue working on this project if that happens every time.
actually i remember now, that when i used my internal sound card the same thing happened frequently. that stopped mostly when i started using the sp tho.
what could cause something like this? could it be vsts? it should be able to handle the input right?
