what do you do? chopping breaks or take drum kits

im sp 555 man, i got a 202 and i would know what's the best way to get raw drums on it, thru drum kits or chopping breaks

especially if you have another sampler to bounce back to

I record breaks onto my 404 og

I EQ the break and record to my 202, in lo fi 1 or standard mode sometimes even in hifi

then I record back to the 404 and make my own drum kits by layering and truncating etc. I use different effects on the 202 and I also use the 202 mark button to record single hits all back to the 404.. then I design my kits in the 404…

I usually keep analog clap, snare, kick on hand to layer with the vinyl drums

drum hitts.. usually my own sounds sampled in .. you'll be surprised how easy it is to get "snares" by tapping CD cases together or kicks from tapping a mic to get distortion
